Proposed Changes to the By Laws

Below are the proposed changes that we will vote on at March 15th's PTO meeting. We will meet at 7pm in the library.

ARTICLE VI: FINANCIAL POLICIES
Section 6: MONEY FROM FUNDRAISERS

Current:
The profits collected from major fundraisers will be divided equally between the PTO and Discovery Elementary. Profits collected from Friday treat sales will be given to the library for the purchase of books and Accelerated Reading test.

Proposed Changes - Option 1:
All profits from fundraisers shall be used to enhance the education and opportunities of Discovery Elementary students. Fifty percent of profits from major fundraisers shall be set aside by the PTO for use by Discovery Elementary. The PTO shall disburse funds to Discovery upon receipt of invoice(s) for items purchased by Discovery. All profits from the sale of Friday Treats shall be set aside for the library for the purchase of books and incidental materials necessary for the library. The PTO shall disburse these funds upon receipt of invoice(s).

Proposed Changes - Option 2:

All profits from fundraisers shall be used to enhance the education and opportunities of Discovery Elementary students. Discovery Elementary and the PTO shall collaborate to determine the best use of funds. The PTO shall disburse funds for approved items. All profits from the sale of Friday Treats shall be set aside for the library for the purchase of books and incidental materials necessary for the library. The PTO shall disburse these funds upon receipt of invoice(s)
